MCS-150 – BIENNIAL UPDATE

The MCS-150 form is a federally mandated requirement by the FMCSA for obtaining, renewing, or updating your USDOT number. Every motor carrier must file this update at least once every two years, or immediately if there are changes to company information such as address, number of vehicles, or operation type.

Failing to file your MCS-150 on time can result in deactivation of your USDOT number and potential penalties.

We make it easy to:

  • ✅ Update your company details
  • 🔄 Reactivate a suspended DOT number
  • ❌ Deactivate your DOT number if you're no longer operating

Stay compliant and avoid costly delays—let us handle your MCS-150 filing quickly and accurately.

The MCS-150 is a required form used to update or renew your USDOT number with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Every carrier must submit this update at least once every two years—or sooner if there are changes to your company’s details, such as address, fleet size, or operating status.

Failing to complete your Biennial Update can result in serious consequences, including deactivation of your USDOT number and fines of up to $1,000 per day, with a maximum penalty of $10,000.

Keeping your information current isn’t just a rule—it’s essential for staying compliant and avoiding costly disruptions to your operations.

How Your DOT Renewal Date Is Determined

Your USDOT number holds the key to your FMCSA update deadline. The last two digits of your number indicate when you need to file:

  • The final digit corresponds to the month your update is due.
  • The second-to-last digit tells you whether you file in an odd or even year.

Even if your company’s details haven’t changed—or if you’ve stopped operating—you’re still required to submit a Biennial Update through the FMCSA Portal. Failing to do so can result in penalties or deactivation of your USDOT number.
